S.W.O.R.D. has become a hot topic in MCU discussions recently, with that name being heavily linked to the mysterious events that are currently unfolding in WandaVision.

It feels like the organisation might have a big role to play in future TV shows and movies, but if this deleted ending from Thor had been left in the final cut, then S.W.O.R.D. could've been brought into the fold all the way back in the early 2010s.

The scene in question is a short one that starts with Erik Selvig working with a team of scientists, telling them to cross-reference S.H.I.E.L.D. data with S.W.O.R.D. data. The camera then pans up to the roof, where Jane Foster and Darcy Lewis are building a beacon of some kind, attempting to help Thor find his way back to Earth.

Sure, name-dropping S.W.O.R.D. doesn't mean that there were plans to make them this big recurring thing within the MCU, but at the very least, this alternate ending does show that Marvel Studios has been thinking about S.W.O.R.D. for quite some time.

He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
