10 MCU Fates Worse Than Death
8. Emil Blonsky's Eternal Abomination
The Incredible Hulk seems to be the one outlier in the MCU. While movies like Iron Man set the franchise off on the right track, this is the one film in Phase 1 that seems the most out of place when compared to something like Thor or Captain America. Even though it has its spotty moments, the film didn't skimp out when it came time to give us extremely dark material.
Throughout the movie, Bruce Banner is constantly on the run from government forces who see him as a destructive monster. Though Banner does his best to control his inner rage, military officer Emil Blonsky takes matters into his own hands to stop the Hulk by turning into the Abomination, with the strength and build big enough to rival our friendly green giant.
Granted, the climax of the film does have its shining moments with two Hulk-sized beings fighting, but the repercussions of Blonsky's actions are a lot darker than you might think. As opposed to Bruce Banner's tendency of using his Hulk mode like an on/off switch, the Abomination is arrested and is unable to return to his natural human form.
Banner may have to live with the trauma of being half monster all the time, but Blonsky's aggression led him past the point of no return.
