10 MCU Movie Cameos That Almost Happened
1. Jeff Goldblum - Captain America: The First Avenger
Before he was shilling Jeeps and before he turned up in Thor: Ragnarok as the hilarious Grandmaster, Jeff Goldblum was actually lined up for a cameo in an entirely different Marvel movie.
Kevin Feige revealed ahead of Ragnarok's release that Goldblum was one of his white whale actors who he wanted to get into the MCU but had been unable to. The actor was originally offered a cameo as a senator in the first Captain America movie, as the MCU head honcho revealed to Uproxx:
“And we had come close. I mean, I’ll tell you, I think we spoke to him or offered him a role in Captain America: The First Avenger. I think the role of the senator that was part of that USO tour in the first Captain America film. And he either wasn’t available or wasn’t interested or whatever. And thank goodness, because that would have just been a small thing and instead we got to wait for the Grandmaster, which is about as amazing as a Jeff Goldblum ‘Goldblum-iness’ could be.”
More Godlblum is never a problem, but it's good this one didn't come off as it would have made his later appearance in Ragnarok impossible. So thank heavens for small mercies.
