10 MCU Plot Points Marvel Has Completely Abandoned

1. Nick Fury

Nick Fury

The absence of Nick Fury from every MCU movie since Avengers: Age Of Ultron is one of the most bizarre mysteries that Marvel has yet to provide a solid explanation for.

This isn’t just some disposable side character or unimportant authoritative figure; this is the guy that helped form The Avengers, and someone the team regularly looks to for advice and leadership.

You can forgive his lack of presence in space-set adventures like Thor: Ragnarok and Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2, as well as Avenger-less origin stories like Ant-Man and Doctor Strange, but Captain America: Civil War? No way does Fury not have a role in that.

He’s also not in Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War or Avengers 4 (as confirmed by Samuel L. Jackson himself), and with those last two movies being touted as the culmination of everything the MCU has been doing for almost decade, not featuring one of the universe’s core, founding personas is just plain wrong.

In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
