10 MCU Plot Points Marvel Has Completely Abandoned

4. Red Skull's Disappearance

Red Skull is still one of the best villains the MCU has delivered to date, so it's a real shame that his fate has been left up in the air since we last saw him.

At the end of Captain America: The First Avenger, the red-faced ruler grabs the Tesseract - The Space Stone - which opens up some kind of portal. Seconds later, a blue beam of light envelops him, and it looks as though he's teleported into space.

Some fans think that this blue light vaporised and killed him, but in truth, we've no way of telling what actually happened - which makes it all the more frustrating that Marvel hasn't given us closure.

The Tesseract is shown to possess the ability to teleport people (Loki uses it to arrive on Earth at the beginning of The Avengers) and Hawkeye even mentions that it serves as a doorway into space, so is it unreasonable to assume Red Skull is still out there somewhere?

There have been rumours of a Red Skull comeback ever since he disappeared, so it's weird that all those rumours haven't been quashed or confirmed in any official capacity.
