A truly bizarre and mind-bending sci-fi movie that went totally under the radar upon its release back in 2013 (chances are you've never even heard of it), Predestination stars Ethan Hawke as a "Temporal Agent" tasked with going back in time to prevent crimes before they happen. If the premise sounds familiar, the movie is anything but. Relentless in its pouring on of twists, turns and unexpected plot happenings, it's the very definition of a "mindf*ck.

Much of the brilliance spurs from how outright crazy Predestination allows itself to be, almost as if the directors - The Spierig Brothers - decided to take things as far as they could for the sheer fun of it. There's a real hodgepodge of other movies in Predestination's melting pot: traces of Inception, Minority Report and Looper (all mind-bending works of sci-fi in their own right) are visible, and yet it comes together to make something original.

You might not understand it properly the first time, and there are undoubtably a few plot holes lurking within, but there's probably no better recent sci-fi movie out there with the potential to melt your brain than Predestination. And Sarah Snook is absolutely amazing.
