Now this makes a little bit more sense (especially considering Beauty and the Beast, of all the Disney films, was going to have its own series).

Given that Atlantis: The Lost Empire was overflowing in imagination and new concepts, a follow-up TV series would have been the perfect platform to explore the franchise in greater detail. The idea of a TV series is evident from the sequel’s episodic plot, which would be cut into three separate chunks for the show’s regular run.

The name of the show was going to be called ‘Team Atlantis’, which would follow Milo Thatch and Kidagakash Nedakh, who would be King and Queen of Atlantis. The main drive of the series was for them to journey to the surface to track strange phenomena, probably caused by the Atlantic crystals.

Team Atlantis made it far into production with nearly all the scripts of the first season being written, and half of them already being recorded with the original voice actors. So it was quite a shock when the project was cancelled, especially when there was so much potential for a thrilling television series.
