10 Mind-Blowing Facts You Didn't Know About The MCU

2. Gal Gadot Almost Played Nebula

Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman is currently the DCEU's shining beacon, but the actress herself was dangerously close to becoming the MCU's blue-skinned, bald-headed cyborg anti-hero instead.

In an interview (via CBM) that was posted online days before Karen Gillan was officially cast as Nebula in Guardians Of The Galaxy, Gadot let slip that she was also in the running for the part:

"It's a very complicated life, because you live from role to role, and you never know when your next role will be... really, it's like... I don't know. And that's what... There are all sorts of options and all sorts of possibilities. I have the option now for a role where I will have to shave my head and they will colour me in blue paint. I swear to you."

"Shave my head and they will colour me in blue paint". Hmmm. That's an oddly specific description, and there's only one character we can think of who fits that bill.

Gadot was cast as Wonder Woman later that year and has played the character three times (with a fourth stint incoming), so even though she missed out on appearing in the $2 billion-grossing Avengers: Infinity War, she's not doing too bad for herself all things considered.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
