Yep. Believe it or not, the Springwood slasher did indeed bring out an entire album at the height of his popularity—a rare feat for a horror villain, no doubt aided by his relative verbosity compared to largely voiceless contemporaries such as Michael Myers, who would likely have some real trouble in the lyrics department.

However, despite the endless punning potential inherent in his corniest late-franchise incarnations (pre-the series reviving return to form New Nightmare), the album actually didn’t feature that many instances of Freddy himself rapping—crying shame really.

Despite this, many fans maintain that the album’s standout track “Do the Freddy” is a Halloween party classic—even if our main man barely appears on the song.

He did, however, show up in both the Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff’s Nightmare on My Street and The Fat Boys’ Are You Ready (For Freddy), a pair of novelty rap songs which perfectly epitomise everything which that regrettable decade’s style of rap really needed to leave behind—gimmicky guest appearances from famous slashers included.
