10 Mind Blowing Uses Of Music In Movies

2. "Also Sprach Zarathustra" - 2001: A Space Odyssey

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWnmCu3U09w We have back to back Kubrick, for his decision to use Strauss' Also sprach Zarathustra helped create one of cinema's all-time iconic moments, as it pertains to both the opening and closing sections of 2001: A Space Odyssey. So well-known is the music's use in this film that it has been parodied in countless of movies and TV shows, and was even adopted by wrestler Ric Flair as his entrance theme. The piece has become widely associated with amazing, awe-inspiring moments, largely due to its use in 2001, both for the opening shot of the sun rising, and the final one, of the Star Child sitting above Earth. These are just two of those all-time great moments of cinema where it's impossible to imagine the scene unfolding any other way; the impact would be diluted. As it stands, they're among the most incredible and uplifting fusions of sound and image ever.
