10 Mind-Numbingly Stupid Lines Of Dialogue From Man of Steel

6. Superman says:

€œZod can't be trusted. The problem is, I'm not sure the people of Earth can be either.€

In an extremely brief conversation, Clark says this to a priest when looking for advice about how to deal with Zod. Wait, what? Where do I even start on what is wrong with this scene? Okay, for one, the priest just immediately believes that Clark is the alien fugitive without questioning him at all. And then he doesn€™t even seem to consider contacting the authorities. Was this guy dropped as a kid? He doesn€™t have any reason to believe Supes is out to save the day yet. Then he gives Clark this BS about taking a leap of faith and trusting people later. I€™m pretty sure any person in real life would immediately say €œyou have to give yourself up and save our planet€€mind you any sane person would tell this guy to stop looking for attention instead of readily accepting him as an important alien being despite having seen absolutely no evidence. The icing on the cake, though, has to be my chosen line of dialogue. Clark only just walked into this church and asked the priest for advice. He gets a vague answer he doesn€™t understand, replies with this equally vague statement and then gets up to leave again. So he doesn€™t mind that he achieves absolutely nothing here? What was the point of going to the church then? If it wasn€™t for the priest adding one extra line as Clark walks out the door the scene would have had no value whatsoever. By the way...if Superman is practically invincible to us...what is it us "people of Earth" can't be trusted with anyway? My God this was appalling...
