10 Mind-Numbingly Stupid Lines Of Dialogue From Man of Steel

7. Lois Lane says:

€œWelcome to the planet.€

Man of Steel

And here we have the closing line of the entire film. Although I quite like Amy Adams, I have to say that absolutely everything Lois Lane says in this movie is cringe-worthy and could be on this list. I know that the character is vital to the Superman mythology but, looking at this film as an individual work, her character added nothing to the proceedings. She meant zip. I know it would anger fan-boys but, hell, I would€™ve rather had her completely absent from the film than what we got. This line at the end sums up everything infuriating about this incarnation of the character in one fell swoop. In fact, it€™s a shining example of the main thing that made me hate this film€™s dialogue. It€™s trying way too hard to be witty. David S. Goyer is not Joss Whedon. He never will be. So it was seriously embarrassing to hear lines like this littered throughout the film, trying to replicate Whedon€™s creative and witty flair. Yes we get it; he€™s an alien and he€™s about to work for The Daily Planet. €œWelcome to the planet.€ Ha ha ha. Except it€™s not funny. It actually just confused me more. Now I€™m left wondering as the credits role: €œdoes she recognise that Clark is Superman or what?€ Ah, who cares I clocked out forty five minutes before the end anyway.
