10. Qui-Gon Jinn The Star Wars Saga
Its an oldie but a goodie, so I have to go for it. Granted, you might think that Qui-Gon Jinn isnt what youd call a minor character after all, hes the main character for The Phantom Menace. However, in terms of the entire plot, Qui Gon is exceptionally insignificant hes not directly involved in the breakup of the Republic, and having come down with a case of the shish-kebabs doesnt even make it into the next film. Yet still, it can be said that Qui-Gon ruins it for everyone through his insane enthusiasm for Anakin Skywalker. It must be noted that no other Jedi shares his passion for training the boy wonder for two perfectly valid reasons firstly, hes far too old and secondly, theres darkness in his heart which if combined with his outrageous power could cause something of a headache. Again, perfectly legitimate reasons to not train the lad. However, Qui-Gon insists, and then gets his request granted when he comes down with deadness. So really, Qui-Gon is vicariously responsible for absolutely everything. Hes responsible for the death of Mace Windu/saving of the Emperor and the subsequent order 66 which wiped out all the Jedi, hes responsible for the eventual insanity his great protégé suffers and is therefore responsible for all the death and calamity which takes place in the galaxy over a 30 year period, all because he couldnt refuse an irritating child. Good going, Qui-Gon.
