10 Minor Film Characters Whose Lives Were Probably Ruined Forever

6. Cameron's Dad - Ferris Bueller's Day Off

When we say "minor character" here, we really, really mean "minor character" - to the point where this person is never even seen on screen, and we are forced to imagine the wrath that is unleashed once the credits have finished rolling. In Ferris Bueller's Day Off, then, endlessly likeable teen Ferris convinces his super hot girlfriend, Sloane, and his best friend, Cameron, to skip school - together they embark on a wild adventures: they steal Cameron's dad's Ferrari , go to an art gallery, and take part in a parade. All in all, it's a great day - until an unexpected tragedy strikes. Pressured and bullied by his father for most of his life, Cameron realises that he has finally had enough, and kicks the front of the Ferrari in an act of defiance. At this point in the movie, audiences are behind Cameron 100%, as this is the moment when he realises he has to stand up to his father. But then he leans against the Ferrari and it accidently rolls off of its jack, smashes through a glass window and falls into a ravine, where it is destroyed beyond repair. We never find out what happens to Cameron, nor do we ever get a glimpse of Cameron's dad - all we know is that the Ferrari - much as was presumably the case with the old man in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, don't you know? - was his father's ultimate possession. When he finds out that his son has knocked it over the edge of a cliff, he's assumedly going to turn into a maniac. Going by what we've heard about him at this point, then, it's fairly reasonable to presume that he never forgives his son for the act. Which means the pair would likely fall out for good, thus dooming Cameron's dad to a sad - and car-less - existence.
