10 Minor Film Characters Whose Lives Were Probably Ruined Forever

3. Boo's Parents - Monsters Inc.

If your suddenly child disappeared for a few days and then came back to you out of the blue, completely unharmed and without an explanation, do you think you'd ever be able to live a comfortable, care-free life again? Would you be able to live a life where you weren't always wondering what happened for that period of time, or one where you felt like you could leave your child's side? Probably not, and yet that's presumably the situation that unfolded on the other side of the closet door for the sum of Monster's Inc. Boo's parents must be scarred. Think about it: when Boo accidently winds up entering Metropolis and is taken into care by a reluctant Mike and his buddy Sulley (these are monsters, mind you), we forget to think about what's going on back in the human world. Boo is missing as far as her parents are concerned - she's been abducted. And although the end of this Pixar classic has the child returning to her room like it's the most normal thing in the world, what are the parents supposed to think when she comes down to say hi after she's supposed to be missing? There are so many potential ways in which this situation could ruin the lives of these unseen, minor characters: firstly, the fact that their child was - for all they know - abducted is the kind of traumatic experience that is bound to affect them forever. Of course, as a result of the incident, Boo's parents are probably going to spend the rest of their days at her, always worrying that she might just disappear again without explanation. Maybe when she gets older she can tell them she went on a monster adventure, but the likelihood is - given what happened - they'd think she was mentally disturbed.
