10 Minor MCU Moments That Pissed Everyone Off

"It's not ripe" might be the MCU's single laziest gag.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is the biggest movie IP on the planet bar none, and that of course means that everyone's got their opinions about what works and what doesn't.

We've all spoken vocally about the major MCU moments that pissed us off - perhaps Iron Man 3's Mandarin twist rubbed you the wrong way, you loathed Joss Whedon's battery of off-colour jokes in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and cringed at the sub-par CGI in Black Panther's final battle.

But what about those smaller, more low-key infuriating moments that came and went in a minute or two at most, if not a matter of seconds?

They're the moments that made you raise your eyebrows, double-take, cringe, and otherwise question why that decision was made on the most basic creative level.

You might be tempted to call the complaints nitpicks, but these 10 MCU moments quietly stoked the ire of the fanbase even if they didn't necessarily command worldwide headlines or generate major controversy.

These moments all thankfully passed us by quickly, but on repeat viewings they're the small beats that nobody looks forward to being reminded of...

10. Thor Barely Wears His Winged Helmet - Thor

In the pre-MCU Marvel comics, you'll be hard-pressed to find an issue where Thor (Chris Hemsworth) isn't wearing his iconic winged helmet or some variation of it, yet in the MCU it's pretty much a non-entity.

Yes, we saw him wear the classic winged helmet for a few scattered moments in the first Thor, and he briefly wore new versions of it in Ragnarok and Love and Thunder, but overall there's clearly a concerted effort to deviate from the superhero's legendary comic book appearance.

Ahead of The Dark World's release, Hemsworth admitted that he lobbied to get rid of the helmet due to how uncomfortable it was to wear, especially during fight scenes.

In addition to this, the MCU has generally veered away from masked superheroes and secret identities, as conveniently allows them to keep their stars' handsome faces on-screen as much as possible.

In Hemsworth's case, it doesn't take a genius to see why Kevin Feige would prefer to keep his gorgeous mug in view at all times, even if many fans would love to see a more source-faithful Thor decked out in the helmet.
