10 Missed Opportunities In Marvel Cinematic Universe

7. Darcy - Thor

THOR In case you didn't realise, the character of Darcy (Kat Dennings) in Thor has no original basis in the comics, and was created purely for the movie as a comedy relief sidekick, a research assistant to Jane Foster (Natalie Portman). Though I don't innately have a problem with characters being created for the MCU, Darcy is among the more irritating of the lot, a fanboy-bait character who, though somewhat pleasing to the eye, doesn't really add much to the plot (and thankfully wasn't in The Avengers). Darcy appears again in the upcoming sequel, Thor: The Dark World, and hopefully the writers have taken onboard her fairly divisive reception amongst fans. If she's written with a little more wit, she's not beyond salvaging, though Dennings' performance is frankly quite irritating, and something I could easily do without. Wouldn't it have made sense to instead insert a character from the pool of countless young supporting comic book characters, like Amadeus Cho for instance?
