6. Fin Fang Foom As The Final Villain - The Avengers
When the trailers began releasing for The Avengers, many were excited at the tease of a giant, metallic dragon-like creature chasing Iron Man through the New York skies; could this possibly mean the inclusion of one of comic lore's best-loved villains? Though fans were divided prior to release on whether this monster was, in fact, Fin Fang Foom, the truth turned out that was
not the classic comic book villain, and the movie instead sat tight with Loki, the Chitauri, and finally Thanos. However, it seems like a bit of a tease to include a character so aesthetically similar to Foom (in some iterations of the comic more than others, mind), and given that Loki essentially recruits aliens to do his bidding, Foom totally fits in with that (he comes from the planet Kakaranathara). Alas, Whedon did a great job with the movie, but this tease was a little frustrating; why not have a giant floating creature that doesn't so closely resemble a classic comic book villain?
