10 Mistakes Fanboys Won’t Admit Upcoming DC Movies Have Already Made

2. Not Copying Enough Off Marvel

We€™ve all heard the arguments: DC don€™t need guidance from Marvel when they were making successful Batman movies before the MCU was a glimmer in Kevin Feige€™s eye. And of course that Marvel don€™t actually make good movies, they just market well to one dimensional morons. Whether those things are true or not is a matter of opinion: the definitive truth is that DC are approaching their shared universe in such a contrarian fashion (perhaps because of Marvel€™s success), that they€™re making emulation of that success highly unlikely. The smart move would have been to seed the expanded universe strongly, like Marvel did. They bet heavily on a strong, fancied horse - in the form of Iron Man - and doubled down, before taking measured steps towards an ensemble in the very clever Phase model. DC, on the other hand, are approaching it backwards, hoping that jumping to Dawn Of Justice will build intrigue in the stand-alones. Which is pretty much exactly the equivalent of giving a child its dessert, and then asking it to settle for the main course afterwards. And of course, it helped Marvel that they actually sought to make comic book superhero movies - something that the success of Chris Nolan€™s work has dissuaded DC from doing.
