10 Modern Movies Sure To Become Cult Classics

8. In Bruges

The movie: After accidentally killing a young boy in a hit that went wrong, assassin Ray (Colin Farrell) and his mentor Ken (Brendan Gleeson) are sent to Bruges to lie low and await further orders from their boss, Harry (Ralph Fiennes). While Ken soaks up the culture, history and architecture, Ray strikes up a relationship with a beautiful woman (Clémence Poésy) who isn't quite what she first appears to be. What makes it a potential cult classic: Writer-director Kevin McDonagh's In Bruges is a darkly comic drama in which the dialogue - like many great cult films - is pin sharp and full of charm. Eminently quotable, he crafts scenes which are frequently witty and sometimes profound which the lead actors - particularly Ralph Fiennes - deliver perfectly. The gallows humour and flashes of surrealism elevate In Bruges to a status well above your average hitman comedy guaranteed to have a hardcore fanbase for years to come.
