There were far too many things wrong with Spider-Man 3 in 2007 to list them here, but one of the main problems fans had with it, aside from Spidey's horrific dancing, was Venom. Miscast from the start, both Topher Grace's Eddie Brock and his Symbiote partner left a lot to be desired.

In 2018, Sony had a chance to rectify their mistakes with the character from nine years earlier, and for the most part they succeeded. Tom Hardy was by far a better Eddie than Topher Grace, and the aesthetic and voice of the intimidating, hulking beast was simply excellent.

However, one thing that did let down Ruben Fleischer's movie was the dialogue. There were several scenes in which the characters were let down by what they had to say, in particular one of the last in the movie, as Venom confronted a thug in Eddie's local convenience store.

After threatening to bite his arms, legs, and face off, the Symbiote promised that the man demanding cash would be left to roll down the street like a turd in the wind. This was simply not the kind of thing you'd expect a character like Venom to utter, and while it was clearly supposed to be funny, it just came off as jarring and out of place.
