10 Moments Of Bad Movie Science That Made Us Cringe

3. Charlie Bucket's Grandparents (Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory)

willy Charlie Bucket's single mother cleans clothes with her bare hands and makes cabbage soup for her son, her two parents and her parents-in-law. Meanwhile, her son Charlie galavants around the streets looking for chocolate, while the elderly members of the household have been laying in bed for years on end. It is not until Charlie find a golden ticket, earning him a tour of Willy Wonka's famed chocolate factory, that Grandpa Joe can get out of bed to dance around like young man. Grandpa Joe's reprehensible laziness aside, it is impossible that after years of being stagnant he would simply be able to prance around the room like a child. The prolonged disuse of muscles results in atrophy. After years of simply laying around, standing up that quickly would result in Grandpa Joe falling on the ground like the bride in Kill Bill. And in addition to that, laying around that long without moving will result in stress ulcers. Charlie Bucket's four grandparents would've died of infections to their back and buttocks years ago.
