10 Moments Of Ridiculously Smart Foreshadowing In The MCU
6. Bucky Picks Up Captain America's Shield - Captain America - The First Avenger
It has long been known that Chris Evans won't be sticking around the Marvel cinematic universe forever. After Avengers: Age Of Ultron he has just two more films on his contract, one of which will be Captain America: Civil War. After that Evans is apparently done with acting, preferring to move behind the camera instead. Anyone with the knowledge of the comics will know that he will meet his maker, although when that will be is anyone's guess. His next solo movie is the prime candidate, given the events of Civil War, but would Marvel give up on Captain America so early into Phase 3? Perhaps. In the comics, after the death of Steve Rogers, his former best friend Bucky Barnes took up the role of Captain America. In film, Bucky of course made his return as the titular villain in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Actor Sebastian Stan has apparently signed up for a considerable contract given him the potential to take up Cap's fallen mantle in future films. In the first film to feature Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes, this transition was already foreshadowed, with Bucky picking up the iconic shield moments before his 'death'. Given where he was at the end of the last Captain America film, we might be seeing this transition sooner rather than later.
