What other moment could be on the top of this list? Not only is it the crowning achievement in villain humiliation, it is the shortest time it has taken for a villain to go from megalomaniacal maniac to internet punchline. It is doubtful Loki will ever get over this one, and that is no understatement. Throughout the course of The Avengers, Loki has to cope with enemies who are very much physically superior to him. Throughout most of it, he acquits himself rather well (even salvaging that awkward "Performance Issues" moment with Tony Stark by throwing him out the window), until he meets Bruce Banner's alter ego during the battle of New York. Loki is interrupted mid monologue by the Hulk, who wastes no time in pounding him into the ground, leaving him lying in a crater on Tony Stark's floor. Never has a villain been so dramatically undercut than in this scene. It is a testament to Loki's determination that he doesn't give up his mischief right there. In Thor 2, he seems to have largely gotten over this incident - that, or he is hoping no one brings it up. Whatever the case, there is no doubt that his ego is much the worse for wear after this pounding.
Self-evidently a man who writes for the Internet, Robert also writes films, plays, teleplays, and short stories when he's not working on a movie set somewhere. He lives somewhere behind the Hollywood sign.
