10 More Amazing Roles Ruined By Terrible Acting

It's all well and good crafting an utterly captivating figure and then throwing them into your screenplay, but without a strong performance or the right actor to lift said character off the page, all that hard work can sometimes unfortunately be for nothing.

Some actors were just born to play certain legendary roles, like Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark or Arnold Schwarzenegger as The Terminator. While others successfully proved they possessed far greater ranges than you thought after being given the chance to step into a properly awesome pair of shoes - just look at Heath Ledger's surprising turn as 'The Clown Prince of Crime'.

But then you have those performances that weren't quite as effective.

Those displays that, either due to an actor just not being the correct fit for a part or their choices in the role falling a bit flat, ultimately spoiled characters that had the potential to be truly great on-screen.

From badass alien-hunters feeling like anything but, to certain voice performances in the remake of a classic just not quite hitting like the iconic sounds of the past did, these are 10 more amazing characters that were somewhat let down by poor or even bizarre performances.

First being introduced during the brilliant animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars series back in 2012, Saw Gerrera was a freedom fighter who at one point battled against the Separatists on his homeworld of Onderon.

He was a compelling, charismatic and complex figure, doing whatever it took to bring his people freedom and take down those who looked to oppress the galaxy. But his methods would eventually become somewhat extreme, with the death of his sister ultimately taking him down a darker path as the years rolled by.

Andrew Kishino first brought the awesome figure to life in that animated series, but it was Forest Whitaker who would take over the part from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story onwards. And that's when things initially got a little weird.

By this point in the timeline, a part-machine Gerrera is very much showing the effects of years of fighting. However, the performance is just a little too goofy and odd, with his unintentionally funny outbursts and the silly voice the star puts on largely undermining an otherwise fascinating Star Wars figure.

Whitaker would later deliver far more effective performances in the role as a younger Saw in the likes of the Jedi: Fallen Order game, and both the animated Rebels and Andor series. But Whitaker's strange Rogue One appearance was a live-action debut to forget for this great character.
