10 More Amazing Roles Ruined By Terrible Acting

8. Conor McGregor (Knox) - Road House

UFC star Conor McGregor is many things, but an actor simply is not one of them.

And it's that fact which makes for one of the most perplexing performances to land on streaming services all year, with the MMA fighter bringing the unstable enforcer known as Knox to screens during the Amazon Prime remake of Road House.

It's a fairly basic part on paper - Knox is little more than an explosive, physical obstacle for Jake Gyllenhaal's UFC fighter-turned-bouncer Dalton to overcome - but there was definitely still some silly fun to be had with a tatted-up, wild dog of a henchman.

With McGregor at this particular wheel, however, each scene involving Knox opening his bearded mouth makes you feel like your brain has just spent five minutes with the real-life fighter inside the Octagon.

The line readings are jarring, his rigid physicality feels like something fresh out of a crap video game, and the rest of the poor cast are tasked with trying to sell Knox as the charismatic threat he looked like in the script.

When it's time to throw down, the former double-champ definitely brings it, but the rest of this awkward and cartoonish display was likely enough to leave no one wanting (spoiler!) a return of the Mac in the recently announced sequel.
