10 More Awesome Sci-Fi Villains Wasted In Terrible Movies

4. Mok - Rock & Rule

The 1983 animated musical, Rock & Rule, is about a band who must rescue one of their band members, Angel, after she is kidnapped by the occultist rock star, Mok Swagger.

Rock & Rule was criticised for... well... everything. The plot is incoherent, the characters are unlikable, and it's filled with highly inappropriate content for a children's movie.

Having said that, Rock & Rule has its defenders, mainly because of how captivating the villain is. Every aspect of the antagonist, Mok, is delightfully entertaining. The animators made Mok's face so overly expressive, it's fascinating, even hypnotic to look at him.

Although the filmmakers intended Mok to be portrayed by a mega star like Michael Jackson, Sting, or David Bowie, they didn't have the money and so, hired a far lesser-known singer, Don Francks. He may not be a music legend but Francks' husky voice works perfectly for Mok since he makes every word sound enticing yet sinister. His songs, sung by renowned musicians Lou Reed and Iggy Pop, are so catchy, you'll be humming them for days.

Rock & Rule is so clunky and jumbled, you can tell it had a nightmarish production. Nevertheless, it's still worth watching purely for Mok.
