10 More Behind The Scenes Reasons For MCU Characters' Quirks

7. Tony Stark's Love Of Cheeseburgers

As the definitive chapter in the entire Infinity Saga, Avengers: Endgame featured a hell of a lot of callbacks to earlier moments in the franchise. One of these was Happy Hogan telling Morgan Stark that her dad loved cheeseburgers, something that went back as far as the very first MCU movie.

When Tony returned from being held captive by the Ten Rings, he wanted two things, the first of which was an American cheeseburger followed by a press conference. He ate the first while giving the second, but this went far deeper than just a cheeseburger.

Robert Downey Jr. has explained in the past the significance of the scene, that it was far more than product placement or a cheap laugh, as it relates to his own personal life. In particular how he managed to overcome his drug addiction that plagued him for years. It all came to a stop thanks to one cheeseburger.

According to RDJ, he ordered a Burger King burger that was so disgusting, he knew he was at rock bottom and so threw his drugs in the ocean and checked into rehab. This epiphany was referenced nicely with Tony Stark's love of cheeseburgers.
