4. Cybil Bennett - Silent Hill
One of the greatest characters of the first few seasons of The Walking Dead was Andrea, but four years before landing that role, Laurie Holden was tasked with playing Cybil Bennett in 2006's Silent Hill.
To say Cybil was done dirty by Silent Hill's end would be an understatement, with this police officer doing everything within her power to help Rose, Radha Mitchell's character whose adopted daughter has gone missing in the eerie, unnerving titular town.
There's Pyramid Head and all manner of twisted creatures in Cybil and Rose's way as they attempt to find young Sharon and unravel the mystery of Silent Hill, but in a shock few saw coming, Cybil winds up burned alive during the final act due to falsely being believed to be a witch.
It's a jarring, jaw-dropping demise for a fearless character who did so much to help out a total stranger, and it's a fate that still feels outright cruel even all of these years later.
At least the video game version of Cybil fared a little better in her particular Silent Hill adventures. Well, for the most part.
