The advertisements for Matt Reeves's shaky cam revival film made sure to keep as much detail hidden as they could. This made it to where viewers truly had no idea what would be in store for them when they eventually sat down in the cinema to watch this thing.
It turns out that Cloverfield was a giant monster movie as seen through the lens of a handheld camera. The original aim for the film being to give America an iconic kaiju-esque creature much like those overseas. While that plan didn't really pan out, it would be just flat out wrong to say that the monster in this movie didn't make on hell of an impact.
When it comes to Clover and the lore surrounding it, there have been countless fan theories thrown out each with the goal of getting to the bottom of what it is and where it came from. The reason for this is because of just how inventive of a creature it is.
