The Character

A cosmic entity with three faces, which observes over and maintains balance in the various realities comprising Marvel's multiverse.

The Living Tribunal famously planned to destroy Earth until Doctor Strange completed a series of trials and convinced it that humanity is good enough to be spared.

With a nigh-on unlimited power set, the Tribunal is one of the strongest creatures across every universe known and unknown.

What Happened?

Shortly after Avengers: Endgame was released, writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely were asked if there were any characters they tried to include in the Infinity Saga but couldn't quite pull it off.

Markus said, "We did try to put the Living Tribunal in the first movie. We wrote a scene in which he appeared during the Titan fight. And everyone was like, 'What?'"

The reason for him being eliminated in re-drafting is really quite simple. McFeely said, "He’s got three heads. It would indicate a whole different level of architecture to the universe and I think that was too much to just throw in."

The Living Tribunal won't be an easy character to pull off, but Markus mentioned that Kevin Feige still has it firmly in mind.

As such, it's entirely possible we'll see the character appear in a more cosmic-focused film like Doctor Strange 2, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 or even The Eternals.
