10 MORE Characters That Were Cut From MCU Movies

4. Nova - Avengers: Infinity War

The Character

New York high schooler Richard Rider, who becomes the final surviving member of Xandar's police force, the Nova Corps, and inherits a fitting moniker to match.

As if that's not enough, he also has to come to terms with suddenly being endowed with superman strength and endurance, as well as the ability to fly.

Nova is a long-time fan favourite, and one which MCU fans have been clamouring to see realised on screen since, well, pretty much the beginning.

What Happened?

We've already spoken about Nova being cut from Guardians Of The Galaxy, but he was also dropped from another MCU early draft.

He came up for discussion again during the writing of Avengers: Infinity War, with scribes Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely drafting "several scenarios" involving Nova.

According to Markus, Nova's plot involved him being the sole Nova Corps member to escape Xandar after Thanos (Josh Brolin) sacked it, and he would've ultimately taken the role that The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) did early on - crashing through the Sanctum Santorum and telling everyone that the Mad Titan is coming.

It's easy to see how neatly that would've folded into Rider's origins from the comics, but it wasn't meant to be.

Rumours continue to persist that a Nova movie is in the works, so fingers crossed that we might see it in Phase 4, complete with a flashback to Xandar's destruction, perhaps?
