People like to have a go at The Blair Witch Project, since it's responsible for creating a plethora of gimmicky found-footage features. Even though the bad outweighs the good, the genre has given birth to some innovative mockumentaries, such as Cloverfield and Deadstream.

However, Trollhunter may be the crown jewel of found-footage. In this dark fantasy, a group of students are recording a doc about a suspected poacher called Hans, only to learn he's sanctioned by the government to capture trolls.

As bonkers as the premise sounds, you totally buy it, since Trollhunter takes itself so seriously. Hans talks about the Nordic giants with such sincerity, you really believe him when he says they walk among us. When we see a Jotunn or a Tusseladd trudging through the forest, you get a sense of power and weight from these creatures, giving legitimacy to this "documentary".

In many monster movies, the viewer can become bored anytime the creature isn't on-screen. However, the characters speak about the malformed titans with such conviction, every scene is captivating whether or not the beasts play a part.
