6. Greyhound
Although Tom Hanks has been in the news a lot recently, his upcoming war flick has been strangely overlooked. The announcement of its delay was met with surprise that the film existed in the first place. As if often the case with these kinds of features, the American focus of the story has likely stifled the marketing in other countries. Despite this, Greyhound looks to be a solid effort and an emotional watch, judging from the two trailers already released.
Based on 1955 novel The Good Shepherd by C. S. Forester, Greyhound follows a US Navy Commander during World War II. As a flotilla of allied ships set sail across the treacherous North Atlantic, they are joined by a group of German U-boats who are in hot pursuit. As commander, Ernest Krause must step up and lead the crews to victory and safety. Unfortunately for Krause, the commander's head is filled with self doubt. This causes him to second guess every move he makes, but for the good of the Allied Forces, he must battle these demons in his head before he can truly battle the Germans.
Not only does Hanks star in the lead role, but the actor also penned the story. No word yet on when his film might see the light of day.
