10 More Dumbest Villain Plans In Movies

6. Tom Bowen And Zack Whyte - Non-Stop

In this Liam Neeson action thriller, air marshal Bill Marks (Neeson) is taking a red-eye flight from New York to London when he receives a text warning him that a passenger will be killed every twenty minutes unless he sends the perp $150 million. This is a great set-up, and it's a huge shame it was wasted on such an underwhelming film. The cliches, iffy pacing and wasted supporting cast were also problems, but perhaps the main thing that makes Non-Stop such a disappointment is that it's simply drowning in plot holes and contrivances, nowhere more so than with the villains' plan.

The villains are revealed to be passengers Tom Bowen (Scoot McNairy) and Zack White (Nate Parker). Bowen is planning to bring the plane down and frame Marks for it. He lost his father on 9/11 and believes that security hasn't been improved enough, so he's hoping that this would motivate the Federal Air Marshal Service to change.

This scheme is an epitomizing example of a plan that's just too darn convoluted to take seriously. For example, why bother with killing someone every 20 minutes? Why not just keep things simple? It's telling that the film never actually explains many things, such as how the two men were able to sneak around the aircraft and carry out the murders without anyone seeing them, because there was no logical explanation for that.
