10 More Excuses Actors Used For Blowing Major Movie Auditions
8. Salma Hayek Was Too "Lazy" For The Matrix
In the wake of turning heads with her turns in the likes of Desperado and From Dusk till Dawn, Salma Hayek soon found herself on the verge of starring in one of the biggest movies of the '90s.
According to the star herself, though, there was just one thing getting in the way of her and a part in the iconic first Matrix movie: She was "lazy".
As Hayek would explain during an appearance on the Red Table Talk show (via PEOPLE), after jumping through "many hoops" in the audition process, the various ladies competing to appear in The Wachowskis' flick as Trinity were put through a physical test.
This consisted of a bunch of stunt coordinators from Asia coming in and putting the women through their paces. However, despite noting how she was certainly flexible and agile, Hayek felt that her inability to run around the room once without gasping for air was the main reason she didn't end up scoring a role in the franchise.
It also likely didn't help that some of her rivals, like the eventual Captain Nobie Jada Pinkett Smith, absolutely soared through this particular hoop, with Hayek hilariously explaining how she took one look at the super fit and focused actor and thought to herself "That's who I wanna be when I grow up."
