Toy Story is Pixar's flagship franchise, and is one of the most beloved animated movie series of all time. That doesn't stop fan theories, often dark ones, from trying to ruin it however.

This particular theory installs Andy and Bonnie as unreliable narrators, creating the events of the Toy Story movies in their minds. The theory was sparked by it being unbelievable that no one ever stumbled upon the toys moving, and that the most obvious explanation for that is that they never actually did. Instead, it's all just in the kids' imaginations.

For three of the four films, the stories were about coping without a lost toy. In Toy Story 1, Andy lost Woody and Buzz and so made up a wonderful adventure for them, before he found them in the car, likely where they had been the entire time. Similarly in Toy Story 2, Woody was accidentally sold in the garage sale, so Andy made up his adventure and sensationalised the person who bought him as a villain, until his mom brought him a new Woody along with a Jesse and a Bullseye.

Similarly in Toy Story 4, Bonnie lost Forky, and so she made up a story like Andy had done many years earlier, only this time Woody was never found, so she imagined him leaving for good. The only slightly different chapter is Toy Story 3, in which Andy came across his old toys for the first time in years, and essentially created a new story almost for the sake of nostalgia.
