1. Badlands (1973)
Badlands is Terrence Malicks directorial debut. Not convinced yet? While the film certainly isnt Malicks strongest effort, that doesnt make it any less of a treasure to behold. Malick debuted with a piece of art that most directors only hope to achieve their entire careers. With a runtime of 95 minutes, it is a break from Malicks usual 170-minute-esque features, but it is also an excuse to watch the soon-to-be master craftsman play with a camera in the gorgeous terrains of Colorado. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcFx06cBmbk Martin Sheen is quite convincing as a young, yet charming sociopath, and Sissy Spaceck as the sweet but terribly troubled and complexed teenager, who happens to be in love with the handsome man on a killing rampage. Obviously, there are several other great films that have yet to find a home in the nifty blue cases, and we would love to hear your thoughts/complaints in the comments below!
