10 MORE Forgotten Horror Movie Scream Queens

4. Veronica Cartwright

Caroline Munro
MGM

Veronica Cartwright demonstrated her impressive talent in 1963's The Birds at just 12 years old. Her quivering performance as Lambert in Ridley Scott's Alien proved just as capable as an adult actress, and it is with these two roles she is most closely associated.

However, you may be shocked at the sheer volume of horror pictures Cartwright has appeared in beyond these roles. In between her signature roles, she delivered a stunning but sadly overlooked turn in 1977's classic Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Next she'd tackle the role of a housewife tormented by hungry rats in 1983's anthology Nightmares. A horror-hiatus would follow as Cartwright pursued more mainstream projects, getting rave reviews for her scene stealing turn in The Witches of Eastwick.

The 1990s would see Cartwright return to genre roles with parts in the fantasy-horror Mirror, Mirror 2: Raven Dance and an impressive supporting part in 1995's Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh opposite Tony Todd.

Cartwright then chose to lampoon the genre with a cameo appearance in 2001's Scary Movie 2. Here she flawlessly parodies The Exorcist matriarch Chris MacNeill opposite James Woods.

Cartwright would next pay tribute to her Body Snatchers role by appearing in the ill-advised 2007 reboot, The Invasion. Her last horror outing to date was 2014's underrated meta-sequel The Town That Dreaded Sundown, but more horror projects are in the pipeline!
