10 More Found Footage Fates Worse Than Death

Death looks like a cakewalk when compared to these found footage fates.

Within the depths of the horror genre, few subgenres have as varied quality as that of found footage. While there are clearly some standout found footage movies, there are also a whole slew of utter stinkers.

One thing that this form of horror film often brings with it, is an abrupt, clinical close, with the fate of our core characters at times left completely ambiguous. Then there are those other fates that would surely have characters praying for death rather than face whatever awaits them.

It's on those such pictures that the focus is on here, as this list is all about looking at those found footage offerings which delivered a fate way, way worse than merely death.

As for the 'more' of the title, that's due to this article being a sequel to 9 Found Footage Fates Worse Than Death - which means that Host, Creep 2, The Blair Witch Project, Lake Mungo, Grave Encounters, The Dyatlov Pass Incident, Area 51, The Taking of Deborah Logan, and Megan is Missing are all off the table this time.

With that in mind, then, here are some further twisted found footage fates that make death look like a breeze.

10. Corrupted By Raatma - V/H/S/94

Shudder

This year's V/H/S/94 turned out to be an utter blast for horror hounds, with this the best top-to-bottom V/H/S release yet.

Starting things off with a bang, we had Chloe Okuno's Storm Drain segment. As ever, this was a found footage affair, with the focus of this tale being reporter Holly Marciano and cameraman Jeff descending into a drain in search of the urban legend known simply as Rat Man.

This search brings Holly and Jeff to a group of homeless people, with one fella in particular grabbing their attention when he turns up covered in black goo. Rather than giving a proper interview to our protagonists, his mystery man spits up some strange black liquid and says the word "Raatma". Spooked, Holly and Jeff run for safety but instead ended up captured and informed how a new order will soon take over the world.

From that, the half-man/half-rat Raatma makes himself (itself?) known and spews up the same black liquid, which is this time rubbed on Jeff's face and burns him to death.

Skipping ahead, we find Holly back at the news station and fronting a two-headed local report. Unfortunately for her co-host, this broadcast is brought to a halt when Holly vomits a black substance onto him and burns his f**king face off - before signing off from this news report with a "Hail Raatma!" proclamaition.
