10 More Greatest 'I'm Dead And I Know It' Moments In Movie History
9. Tommy Gets "Made" - Goodfellas
Though Goodfellas' Tommy DeVito (Joe Pesci) was a raging, volatile psychopath whose demise was seemingly inevitable, it's still strangely depressing when Tommy gets "whacked" near the end of the film in retaliation for killing Billy Batts (Frank Vincent), a made man.
Tommy is tricked into believing he's about to be made, but when he's led down to the basement where the Mafia initiation ceremony typically takes place, he opens the door and sees the room inside is empty.
The lack of people present for his "ceremony" allows Tommy to quickly realise he's about to die, letting out an anguished "Oh no" a moment before he's shot in the head at close range.
It's a testament to Pesci's superb, Oscar-winning performance that we can feel even mildly sad about DeVito's death despite the fact he was a violent maniac who was clearly asking for it.
