5. Stansfield Receives Mathilda's "Gift" - Leon
Luc Besson's Leon ends in tragic fashion as the titular assassin (Jean Reno) is gunned down by the psychopathic DEA agent Norman Stansfield (an unforgettable Gary Oldman) mere feet from freedom.
But the bad guy doesn't get away with his murderous act scot-free, though. As Stansfield watches Leon die, Leon hands him a "gift" from young Mathilda (Natalie Portman) which turns out to be a grenade pin.
A confused Stansfield then opens up a dead Leon's vest to find a cluster of armed grenades. With little time to react or really do much of anything, he simply says, "S**t," with a certain darkly comic resignation before being blown to pieces.
Given that Stansfield spends the entire movie being an 11 on the intensity scale, it's ironic that he's so strangely calm about his impending death.
