Toy Story 4 may have been marketed as Forky's story, but it's really about the completion of Woody's arc and his discovery of some kind of peace with the tragedy of his existence.

After re-evaluating what being a loved toy means through his care for Forky, Woody eventually comes to realise that he's better off not returning to Bonnie and going off to live in the wilderness with Bo, Ducky, Bunny and Duke Kaboom, uniting kids with toys. He finds his true calling and everything else goes back to normal.

But Wait...

Think for a minute about how easily Bonnie flips on Woody. He is her favourite in Toy Story 3 but by the time of the follow-up, she's not interested in him to the point that he disappears at the end and she doesn't even notice he's gone. That isn't just an indication that he did the right thing in leaving, but also that he's left his supposed best friends to the exact same fate.

It doesn't matter how long it will take, but Bonnie will grow disinterested in all of them and they'll be neglected like Woody was. So he might have got his happy ending, but basically nobody else did.
