10 More Hidden Gem Zombie Movies You've Probably Never Seen

9. Dead Shack

Wyrmwood Road Of The Dead
Magnolia Pictures

This 2017 independent Canadian horror-comedy is so little known that it doesn't even have a Wikipedia page in an age when everything and everybody has one, which is a shame because it's a short 85-minute blast of indie zombie fun that deserves a few more eyes.

The movie follows a trio of teenagers who are holidaying at a remote and rustic cabin in the woods, with a frequently intoxicated father and his one-note partner. As boredom quickly consumes the teens, they go for a wander into the local area only to stumble across a dodgy-looking shack. A few minutes later and they're peering through the windows like peeping toms, just in time to see a couple of bro's get eaten by zombies who're being contained by their mysterious neighbour for the weekend. As these things do, one thing leads to another and a fight for survival in the middle of nowhere ensues.

Though it doesn't bring anything new to the table, Dead Shack jampacks a ton of charm, plenty of guts, and more than the occasional moment of levity to proceedings. A lot of the humour is juvenile, and sometimes doesn't mesh with the rest of the movie, but don't let that deter you from a chuckle-worthy zombie gem.
