10 More Hidden Horror Gems On Netflix

3. We Have A Ghost

Veronica Movie
Netflix

The most recent release to feature on this list, We Have a Ghost was released directly to Netflix just a matter of months ago. Despite its stellar cast and entertaining premise, though, this Christopher Landon feature hasn't managed to pick up the attention it deserves.

As for that premise, the Presleys - headed up by Anthony Mackie's Frank - buy an old abandoned house which just so happens to be home to a spirit. Rather than the sort of presences seen in Poltergeist or Paranormal Activity, this ghost is more in line with Casper - as in, he's a friendly fella named Ernest (David Harbour).

Upon discovering Ernest, young Kevin Presley (Jahi Winston) is keen to trace the spectre's story and help him find peace, whilst Frank is more concerned with using Ernest to garner YouTube clicks and make his family famous.

While this is very much a horror film, We Have a Ghost is clearly on the lighter side, with plentiful humour at play in a way that makes this the sort of fright fest that's perfect for all the family. While that may put off some of the proper gore-hounds, We Have a Ghost is nothing it not fun, with a surprisingly emotional driving thread once the film starts to find its feet.
