10 More Horror Characters We All Foolishly Thought Had Got Away

There aren't enough pyramid-based horror movies. Why doesn't Hollywood make more pyramid-based horror movies? Probably because they all turn out rubbish, but still, that whole Egyptian mythology angle has the potential for so many unique scares, yet we still don't have a defining, great movie set within this space.

2014's The Pyramid tried to be that movie, and with the backing of horror stalwart Alexandre Aja, it definitely had potential. But unfortunately, it wasn't anything to write home about - let's just say its 14-percent Rotten Tomatoes score is totally fair.

It does have a decent ending though, with final girl Nora Holden being pursued by the bloodthirsty god Anubis as she searches for a way to escape the labyrinthine pyramid she's trapped in. Moments later, success! She stumbles across the exit, and with Anubis being incapacitated by a gang of weird cat monsters, it looks as though she's in the clear. A civilian boy even finds Nora, upping her chances of survival as she now has someone to escort her to safety.

But that Anubis is a tough, relentless old cookie, and just before Nora and her would-be-saviour can fully drink in some of that delicious daylight, he leaps from the shadows and takes them both out. Where's Brendan Fraser when you need him, eh?
