10 More Horror Characters We All Foolishly Thought Had Got Away

3. Jenny (Eden Lake)

Final Destination 3 ending
Optimum Releasing

With its grounded premise and slick execution, Eden Lake is one of the most unsettling horror movies of recent times. It follows a couple whose countryside getaway turns sour when they're terrorised by a gang of teenagers, and while it did receive some criticism for perpetuating the "hoodie" stereotype, its concept is one that obviously could happen in reality. Unlike, say, a zombie apocalypse. Or a ghost girl climbing out of your TV.

Watching Steve - one half of that couple - get repeatedly stabbed while tied up with barbed wire is grisly stuff, and when he later dies from his injuries, it seems like it's game over for his girlfriend, Jenny.

Against all the odds though, Jenny manages to evade the delinquents hunting her down and she makes it back to civilisation, where some kind locals take her in, and tend to some of her injuries. She's traumatized and beat up, sure, but she seems completely and utterly safe - and what could possibly go wrong from here?

Well, as it turns out... everything.

Unbeknownst to her, Jenny has stumbled into a house belonging to the teenagers' parents, a monumental stroke of bad luck that results in said parents killing Jenny in order to silence her, allowing the kids to get away with their horrific crimes. It's the most downbeat ending imaginable, and not one you'll forget in a hurry.

He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
