10 More Horror Movie Characters Who Didn't Know They Were The Victim

In Reeker, a group of young adults end up stranded in a desert oasis while being pursued by a grotesque decaying creature.

What initially appears to be a pretty typical, down-and-dirty slasher flick eventually reveals itself to be more complicated than that, though, when the ending reveals that the central characters were involved in a car crash which killed most of them.

Earlier in the film, the group experienced a tremor on the road, and this actually marked the point at which their car was hit by an RV, killing all of the occupants except for Gretchen (Tina Illman) and Jack (Devon Gummersall).

From the tremor onward, the rest of the movie is effectively set in purgatory between the moment of the crash and the deaths of those onboard, as the Reeker attempts to re-inflict the injuries from the car crash on the victims again, in turn confirming their deaths in the real world.

And to top it all off, in the final scene neither Gretchen nor Jack - who are now recovering from their injuries - have any memory of the accident or of their time in limbo.
