8. Christie - American Psycho
Mary Harron's deranged adaptation of American Psycho takes no prisoners. Christian Bale's Patrick Bateman is a slick serial killer who keeps decapitated heads in his fridge, and he's not in the business of letting anyone escape to reveal his twisted hobby to the world.
At one point however it does look like one of his victims, Christie, might escape his clutches. If there's anything Bateman likes more than murder it's sex, so it's no surprise that he blends these two interests. This results in him picking up sex worker Christie and bringing her back to his apartment to get it on with his date, Elizabeth. It's not long until he kills Elizabeth though, which gives Christie the chance to flee with a bloody, naked Bateman in pursuit.
After a scuffle it looks like she's gotten away from him, running down the stairs as her would-be killer screams at her from the top floor. Just as she's about to get off the staircase though, Bateman drops a chainsaw from above, which lands and kills her.
If she was seconds quicker she'd have been home free, able to leave the building and find help.
