10 More Horror Movie Twists That Were Hiding In Plain Sight

1. Frailty

Bill Paxton may be best-known for his performances in Aliens and Twister, but he deserves far more credit for his directorial debut, Frailty. Not only is this psychological horror marvellously put together, but the final revelation packs a wallop like nothing else.

The film revolves around a working-class mechanic (Paxton) supposedly chosen by an angel to kill demons who are masquerading as humans. Wanting his family to take part in his holy crusade, Dad convinces his sons, Fenton and Adam, to help him get rid of the bodies.

Although Adam believes in his father's visions, Fenton thinks Dad Meiks is killing innocent people. When he challenges his dad, Fenton is accused of being a demon.

Despite the fact all the signs are pointing to Paxton's character being crazy, the climax reveals the complete opposite. It turns out Dad Meiks was chosen by an angel to destroy the forces of darkness, and Fenton was a demon all along.

Although this twist threw everyone off, there is one major clue: demons don't bleed. When Dad Meiks is forced to kill an innocent man, blood sprays all over him and Fenton. However, not a single drop can be seen when the Meiks are hacking up demons or burying the bodies. Dirt, mud, and sweat, sure, but no blood. Considering Dad Meiks' weapon of choice is an axe, he and his kids should be slathered in the red stuff every time they disposed of the demons.

It's a really obvious detail in hindsight but it's easy to miss the first time around.
